Project Background

Fear, film and fun. Fright Fest is the place to be for all 19+ horror movie fanatics. Featuring a pre-show red carpet photo shoot and cocktail hour, guests are guaranteed to feel as sharp as a fang while they enjoy dozens of thrilling horror genre short films, and full length features throughout the night. As a registered charity under the Canadian Revenue Agency, Fright Fest has the mission to celebrate and showcase local and international film makers, and the scary stories they bring to life.

Challenge

Create a visually captivating and versatile brand identity for Fright Fest that embodies the essence of fear, film, and fun while catering to a diverse audience of horror movie enthusiasts. The design should compel individuals to attend, engage with and participate in the event, and its elements should be adaptable across various mediums such as posters, digital assets, merchandise, and event materials, while adhering to the brand’s charitable mission and the overarching spirit of celebrating the art of horror filmmaking.

Inspiration

Sharp edges, sleek aesthetics and horror esque colours such as red and black are used as inspirtation to seamlessly merge the thrilling aspects of horror with the sophistication of a film festival. Inspiration was also drawn from spooky elements that evoke a sense of suspense, excitement, and entertainment while maintaining a professional and inclusive appeal suitable for a 19+  audience.
